Basketball Player Drumming Rehab Program
USA Today reports that Andre Drummond, center for the Detroit Pistons, has temporarily traded the
basketball for a set of bongos. Playing the bongos is part of Drummond’s rehabilitation program, as he
has back problems that are keeping him off the court for four to six weeks. The team’s strength and
conditioning coach, Arnie Kander, says that playing drums requires good posture and so it strengthens
the body’s core. Since both drummers and professional athletes have to mentally prepare for playing,
Drummond ‘s bongos are helping to keep him mentally engaged and encouraging him to feel integrated
with his team while his body heals. Read more here: Pistons' Andre Drummond drumming back to health
