X8 Community Drummer Spotlight: Alan "Drumdude" S.
I receive great inspiration and personal growth from sharing in the circle. This includes a greater sense of community and fellowship. There are a number of circles in my community and I do prefer the facilitated circles to the more open free-for-alls.
The first introduction to community drumming was at a local drum circle that included instruction on Djembe, Djun Djuns and percussion instruments like shakers, claves and tambourines. We enjoyed learning West African rhythms through our facilitators and instructors. Currently, I play in a Scottish Pipe and Drum band, an Afro-Celtic fusion with myself and two other Djembe players with the traditional pipes and drums.
My instruments are Djembe and Djun Djuns, but play all types of percussion "toys". I do encourage all persons to get involved and become a greater part of your community and have fun drumming,
What a fun group of drummers! Thank you for sharing your story with us, Drumdude!
